Defeated Joe Banaski in the final of a tournament to become the inaugural champion. Frank Wolf defeated Nichols in March 1933 in Dallas, TX, but the N.B.A. stated that Nichols was fouled and Nichols remained champion. Nichols defeated Wolf in a July 1933 rematch in Oklahoma City, OK.
